Travel Teams - Baseball
Travel Baseball
Overview
Travel Baseball offers a more competitive experience than recreational baseball. Players and families should be aware of the following expectations:
- Cost: Includes tournament fees, uniforms, equipment, hotels, etc.
- Playing Time: Not guaranteed — determined by coaches based on competition.
- Tryout Required: Players are placed on teams according to ability.
- Commitment: Attendance at all tournaments is expected.
Tryout Format
CYBSA strives to run a fair and consistent evaluation process.
- Coaches are appointed by the Baseball Director based on knowledge and commitment.
- Due to limited indoor space and unpredictable spring weather, tryout locations and times may change (gym or field).
- Parents are not allowed to watch tryouts.
- Players should wear neutral clothing (no team affiliations).
Skills Evaluated:
- Hitting
- Infield & Outfield Defense
- Situational Fielding
- Running Speed
- Catching & Pitching (for those positions)
Evaluation Process:
- Metrics and judge scores are submitted to the Baseball Director.
- Results are typically released within 48 hours.
- Players not selected for Travel will be placed on a Recreational Quad City League team.
- Metric summaries (individual and average scores) are available upon request.
Please Note - 12U and Up
- Travel teams will not also play recreational baseball.
- Each Travel team will play weekday Quad City League games and weekend tournaments.
- The Travel team formed will be your primary team for the season.
